O'Malley Family History
Boston
US Census Records 1910 - 1950

As best I can tell in 1910 John and Bridget lived at 107 West 3rd St, South Boston with their 4 children (Mary Ellen and my father John were not yet born). Also living there were great uncles Bartley and Joseph Conneely (though the spelling the census taker used was Connelly). I'm assuming Patrick and Michael are cousins. Their name appears to be Herman, but could be Hernon (my great grandmother's maiden name)

In 1920 John and Bridget were living at 116 Third St South Boston with their 4 children. Not listed is Mary Ellen who was born in April 23 1912 and died April 13 1913. The cause of death was pertussis, whooping cough. RIP Mary Ellen. John and Bridget owned the house at 116 Third St and had several renters.
Grandfather John O'Malley's occupation is listed as Fireman in a Powerhouse. One of the few stories I know is both my grandfathers, John O'Malley and Michael Gavin were fireman (worked in a boiler room) at the Little Building at the corner of Boylston and Tremont St in downtown Boston. On November 5th 1915, Mike Gavin had to fill in for John O'Malley because John's wife was having a baby (my father). Several weeks later on Dec 30th John O'Malley had to fill in for Mike Gavin because his wife was having a baby, my mother.
